"How long will you be here?" is one of the first questions we hear. The honest answer depends on three things: the size of the home, the type of cleaning, and how long it has been since the last professional clean.
A regular clean takes about 2–3 hours. A deep clean takes 4–8 hours. A move-out clean of an empty home runs from 3–4 hours for a studio to 8+ hours for a 5-bedroom house.
How Long Each Type of Cleaning Takes
| Type of cleaning | Typical time | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Regular / recurring clean | 2–3 hrs | Weekly, bi-weekly or monthly upkeep |
| Deep clean | 4–8 hrs | First visits and seasonal resets |
| Move-in / move-out | 4–8 hrs | Empty homes between occupants |
| Airbnb turnover | 2–4 hrs | Short-term rentals between guests |
| Carpet cleaning | 1–3 hrs | Homes with kids, pets or allergies |
Not sure which one you need? The regular vs deep cleaning comparison shows exactly what each covers.
Move-Out Cleaning Time by Home Size
| Home | Typical time |
|---|---|
| Studio / 1 bedroom | 3–4 hrs |
| 2 bed / 2 bath, ~1,200 sq ft | 4–5 hrs |
| 3 bed / 2 bath, ~1,500–2,000 sq ft | 5–6 hrs |
| 4 bed / 3 bath, ~2,500 sq ft | 6–8 hrs |
| 5 bed / 3+ bath, 3,000 sq ft and up | 8+ hrs |
Where the Time Goes, Room by Room
- Kitchen — the biggest single block. Counters, backsplash, sink, appliance fronts, cabinet fronts and floor. Inside the oven or fridge adds noticeably more.
- Bathrooms — more time than bedrooms. Glass, tile, grout, fixtures and Florida hard-water scale. Each extra bathroom adds more than an extra bedroom.
- Bedrooms — mostly dusting and floors. Quick when surfaces are clear, slower with lots of décor.
- Living areas — dusting, upholstery and floors. Pet hair is the usual time-adder here.

Why the First Visit Takes Longer
A home that has not had professional cleaning recently needs a reset — baseboards, grout, built-up soap scum and inside appliances — so the first visit is usually a deep clean of 4–8 hours. After that, recurring visits maintain the baseline in 2–3 hours. That is also why recurring visits cost less; the numbers are in our cleaning price guide.
Flat Price vs Paying by the Hour
We quote a flat price for the agreed scope instead of an hourly rate. You know the cost upfront, and you never pay extra because a room took longer. Check your number in the cleaning price calculator.
How to Make a Cleaning Visit Faster
- Pick up clutter, toys and clothes so surfaces and floors are clear.
- Empty the sink and dishwasher before the team arrives.
- Secure pets in one room.
- Tell us priorities and off-limits rooms when you book.

Frequently asked questions
A deep clean usually takes 4–8 hours depending on home size and buildup. It covers baseboards, grout, inside appliances and the areas a regular visit skips, so it runs roughly twice as long as a regular clean.
No. We quote a flat price for the agreed scope and confirm it in writing before we start. You are not billed by the hour, so a slower room does not change the bill.
Bathrooms and the kitchen take most of the time, not bedrooms. Two bathrooms plus a kitchen with Florida hard-water scale, then dusting and floors throughout, add up to a few hours of focused work.
No. Many clients leave a key or code. If you stay, working from one room while we clean the others keeps the visit on schedule.
